The Constitution of India has given the right of vote to citizens in selecting the government of their choice. After every five years, the general elections are held when the citizens enjoy their right to vote, however, some times unfortunately when any government do not gets the clear majority the President in the centre and the Governor in the state asks the party emerging as the biggest party in elections to form the government, and get the vote of confidence passed by the parliament within six months of its formation.
The politics of Rajasthan is mainly dominated by two major political parties of the Indian politics, the National Congress Party and Bhartiya Janta Party. Both these party play a major role in deciding the future of politics in Rajasthan.
The 13th assembly elections in Rajasthan were held in December 2008, in which National Congress Party emerged as the biggest party and therefore the then Governor of Rajasthan invited the leader of the Congress Party to form the government. Thus, Honorable Shri. Ashok Gehlot sworn as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, replacing Honorable Smt. Vasundhara Rajae of Bhartiya Janta Party, who was the first lady chief minister of the state.
Shri. Ashok Gehlot has a fleet of very compatible council of ministers to help him in maintaining law and order in the state. The detailed information about his Council of Ministers and the Governor of the state is as follows:
