Indian Army is one of the three Armed forces employed in nation’s defense. Indian Army is ranked fourth largest in the world. It includes 11 lakh soldiers, 10 lakh security forces and 6500 Tokhana including the famous Bofors tank.
The Army is divided into several groups, major ones areSection: It is the smallest troop comprising of only 8-11 soldiers.
Platoon: Platoon comprises of three sections and is under the command of Junior Commissioned officer.
Company: Three Platoon form Company. It is headed by Commissioned officer.
Battalion: Battalion is a combination of four companies & is a pedestrian troop. It is commanded by Lieutenant Commander.
Brigade: Three Battalions form Brigade. It is under the command of a Brigadier.
Division: A Division has three Brigades. It is commanded by Major General.
Core: Core is a group of 2 or 3 Divisions and is commanded by Lieutenant General.
