India comprises of two main islands as Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Both islands come in the list of union territories.
• The Lakshadweep Islands The Lakshadweep Islands are stretched from 200 to 300 km off the coast of Kerala in the Arabian Sea covering an area of 32 km². These islands comprise of 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks, with a total of about 36 islands and islets.
• The Andaman and Nicobar Islands The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are basically the two different groups of islands namely Andaman Islands and Nicobar Islands. These groups of islands are located between 6
o and 14
o North latitude and 92
o and 94
o East longitude and comprise of 572 isles, lying in the Bay of Bengal near the Myanmar coast.
Andaman Islands is the group of 204 small islands with a total length of 352 km, with the presence of active volcano Barren Island while Indira Point, the southern most tip of India is present in Nicobar group of islands.

• Elephanta present in Bombay Harbor
• Sriharikota Barrier Island present in Andhra Pradesh.
• Majuli present in Assam in Brahmputra and is Asia's largest freshwater island
• Forty-two islands in the Gulf of Kutch constitute the Marine National Park.
• Salsette Island present in Maharashtra, on which Mumbai and Thane cities are located and is world’s 14
th most populous island.
