Because of his firebrand nationalist character he is known as “Assam Kesari” (The lion of Assam).
Career:The most notable works authored by the celebrated writer are “Tumi”, “Kaabyo”, “Aahuti”, “Joydroth Bodh”, “Binaa”, “Onubhuti”, “Bondoo Ki Sondere” and “Bedonar Ulkaa”.
He was the founder of the Oxom Xongrikhini Xobha and the Oxom JaatiyoMohaxobhaa. He was the president of the ‘Assam Sahitya Sabha’ in 1950.
Ambikagiri Raichoudhry received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1965. The Assam Sahitya Sabha presents the Ambikagiri Raichoudhry award named after him.
