History of Marina Beach in Chennai:

Marina Beach used to be one strip of mud before the 1880s, but the Governor of Madras, Moutstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff, during this period had changed the fortune of this beach by building Madras Harbour on the coast of this region.

The beach was renamed from Madras Marina to Marina Beach. After the earthquake many statues and temples were discovered.

The most admiring animal to see among the sea wild life is the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle, which is a vanishing species on the earth. The varieties of tropical and fresh water fish are found plenty on this beach as it is aptly situated along the Bay of Bengal.
