Social Activists of India

Social activists are inevitable in a society for it is for the society that the social reformers emerge. The social activists indulge in activities concerning the society : its positive developments and its negative vibes as well. 

Trying to make a change where they think is necessary is their primary duty and making that effort a successful on with the help and support of the people is the ultimate destination. Social Activists play a major role in bringing changes in the society for making it a better place to live and survive. 

India has got a number of active members who involved themselves in the social acts to bring out their views and thoughts before the people and give the society a better way to follow.

Aruna Roy: Born on 26th June, 1946, Aruna Roy is one of the prominent characters of India who stood up for social strengthening and activities benefiting the needy and the poor. 
She is the brain behind the  Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathana(Workers and Peasants strength Union) and also she heads this union. Alongside, she is also the member of National Advisory Council. 

Baba Amte: Born as Murlidhar Devidas Amte, to Devidas and Laxmibai Amte in Hinganghat, Maharashtra, Murlidhar acquired the nickname Baba in early childhood.  

He is particularly known for his dedication towards rehabilitation and empowerment of lepers below the poverty line. He is considered to be the rare person from non-medical background who has received the maximum medicine related awards. Read More

Chandraprabha Saikiani: Chandraprabha Saikiani was an Assamese activist and a reformer. She is a renowned feminist who stood up for the cause of welfare and development of livelihood of women. Chandraprabha Saikiani stood up for the equality of all sections of the people.
