Dayanand Saraswati

Dayanand Saraswati’s original name was Moolashankar, it was only after meeting Swami Virjanand Saraswati Moolshankar Tiwari became Swami Dayananda Saraswati. 


He founded Arya Samaj in 1875 and established gurukuls to impart vedic education. Arya Samaj advocates equal justice for all irrespective of the sexes.

Saraswati devoted his entire life to revive Hinduism. Dayanand Saraswati accused caste system, idolatry, and child marriages and advocated the ideal marriageable age for a girl to be between 16 and 24, and for men between 25 and 40. 

Dayanand Saraswati was the first leader in the field of spirituality who favoured the advances of sciences and technology.

Vedas acted as source that contains the seed of science for him, and Vedas advocate the philosophy of dynamic realism.Swami Dayanand was the first to declare Swarajya for Bharat. He inspired freedom fighters through his book, Satyarth Prakash.

Dayananda advocated the doctrine of karma, cynicism in creed, and emphasised the ideals of brahmacharya. The Theosophical Society and the Arya Samaj together formed the Theosophical Society of the Arya Samaj.
