Jyotiba Phule

Jotiba Govindrao Phule (Jyotirao Phule) also known as Mahatma Jotiba Phule and his wife Krantijyoti' Savitri Bai Phule were the pioneers of Women Education in India. 

Jyotirao Phule was an activist, thinker, social Reformer, Writer, Philosopher, Scholar, Editor and a revolutionary from Maharashtra.

Jyotiba Phule.jpgApart from working towards Women Education he also contributed towards the upliftment of backward classes, Widow, Bahujan People. He introduced the first school in India for girls. 

He also formed the Satya Shodhak samaj with the aim of liberating the Bahujanas ,Shudras and Ati-Shudras and to prevent them from 'exploitations' and 'artocites' created by the Brahmins.

With the legacy of these important reform movements he is till date regarded as the most important figure in the Social Reform Movements in Maharashtra.
