India finds a prominent position in the global arena owing to its activity of IT and software development. The rapid growth in this sector has not only brought national pride but has also established reputation in the world. Today, Indian software industry is one of the major service providers in the world due to the presence manpower skills to develop software using new technologies and ideas.

The Government of India has also taken some key initiatives for the development of this sector. The government has set up few software technology parks in several places of the country and is also in a process of establishing more in the near future. The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) is the apex organization for coordination between the government and the industry.

The Indian IT companies are no longer confined to national boundaries. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam and many more Indian establishments have now become world renowned IT giants.
