Qutubuddin Aibak

Qutubuddin Aibak was the first Turkish ruler of Delhi Sultanate. He founded the Slave dynasty in medieval age. He ruled for four years, i.e. from 1206 to 1210. 

He was made slave and was sold to the chief Qazi of Nishapur. He was well educated and well treated by Qazi but after his death Qutubuddin Aibak was sold to Sultan Muhammad Ghori.

The conquests of northern India were executed mainly by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, which helped Ghori to spread his tentacles there. Qutubuddin Aibak was crowned the Sultan of Delhi in 1206 after the death of Mohammad Ghori.

It was at the time of Qutb-ud-din Aibak the construction of Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque and the Qutub Minar had started which were later completed by his successor Iltutmish.
